This week, Phia wonders what kind of person falls for phishing attacks. Is it only insanely gullible luddites, or can smart, tech savvy people get phished, too? To find out, she conducts an experiment on her poor, unsuspecting coworkers.
Alex says, "I want to recommend the new album from the band Man Forever. Full disclosure, Man Forever is the brainchild of my good friend (and former IT colleague) John Colpitts. All his albums are good, but his latest, Play What They Want, is a ripper. ManFo features really elaborate drum arrangements and wild vocalizations, and there's even guest spots from Yo La Tengo and Laurie Anderson (probably one of the greatest living composers, in my opinion). Anyhow, the record wails. You should check it out. It'll make your life better."
Brittany Luse,Co-host of The Nod, recommends, "Master of None, Season 2. I watched all ten episodes on a rainy Saturday, only stopping once to go eat some yuca fry nachos (there’s so much food talk on MoN, I kind of had to). Two of the episodes were easily some of the best television I’ve ever seen in my life. I also highly recommend eating yuca fry nachos. You can get some at Pokito in Brooklyn if you are so inclined!"
Heavyweight Producer Kalila Holt recommends this novel, Ill Will, which has caused her to almost miss her train stop many times.
She also recommends that you call and leave a message on the Heavyweight voicemail. Do you have a moment you can't let go of? Ever left something important unsaid to someone you loved? Blamed someone for something they didn't do? Or maybe it was a small thing, like accidentally killing your friend's plants and never admitting it? Heavyweight wants to hear about the decisions that left you troubled for a long time to come. Call them at (347) 651-0822.
Sherina, the Reply All Intern, says, "Whenever I need to ease myself into the day, I like to listen to Wild Child—an indie-pop band with a jazzy, bluegrass-y feel fueled by lovelorn folk nostalgia. Wild Child helps me takes things real slow. Like frolicking in a meadow full of daisies in slow-motion slow. Like sitting on a front porch with a pitcher full of pink lemonade slow. I’m pretty sure my heart rate instantly lowers whenever I listen to their songs. Check out ‘Crazy Bird’ and ‘Anna Maria' on my favorite album of theirs, The Runaround."
