I've never been the biggest advocate for the necessity of colanders in the kitchen, but mostly because they typically resemble something long (and rightfully) forgotten in a scrapyard. But not this one from Chris Earl, Los Angeles-based maker and designer of home goods. His hand-thrown ceramic colander is something I want to use and – even more so – display in my home because it's a work of art. Chris kicked off his career as a chef in Chicago and transitioned to making furniture inspired by the culture of his childhood home of Papua New Guinea, described as “a place where creating objects is about fulfilling a purpose, creating story, and building community.” Get your made to order piece below.
