News you need to know

"No word on a dad-bod Ken," muses CBS Boston's Joe Giza, reacting to TIME's trending, exclusive cover story on Barbie's four new body types (at 6,000+ shares right now). "I got an exclusive look at the new #Barbie for @TIME. She's a curvy girl in a curvy world!" announces TIME's Eliana Dockterman, that story's author. "Because of @edockterman, a mother in Los Angeles had to buy another Elsa dol," predicts colleage Dan Hirschhorn. "I love @Barbie and I love this story! Barbie's got a booty now!" gushes CNN's Valerie Payne. "The new curvy #Barbie? What a babe, #amiright? But she needs a better outfit," concludes Morgan Gibson at BRIDES. "At 57, it shouldn't be a big deal if Barbie puts on a few extra pounds," points out J. Alex Tarquinio. Although freelancer Yiannis Baboulias finds himself in Giza's corner, similarly responding, "Release a Ken doll with a beer belly or I never wanna hear another word about equality." Patience, Yiannis. In time.

But even with that controversy partially laid to rest, there are plenty to take its place. For instance, there's the revelation that the "nonprofit" Wounded Warrior Project appears to be anything but, spending lavishly on itself. "Kinda stunning about Wounded Warrior Project. When finances questioned, they did this," notices ProPublica's Charles Ornstein. Meanwhile, the New York Times is busy with some serious self-reflection, asking itself "Should the Times have been a tougher watchdog in Flint?" Also, the W.H.O. says the Zika virus is on a rampage in the Americas and has already set up a response team while the UN weighs whether the virus constitutes a global health emergency. "Zika virus 'spreading explosively' but currently no vaccine, or rapid diagnostic test to confirm an infection," observes Tarryn Mento with KPBS.

In addition, it happens to be the anniversary of the Challenger explosion. "This is why I get sick to my stomach every January 28," admits TNR's Jamil Smith.

Question of the day

Our last question asked: Why is #WhoIsStaceyDash trending on Twitter? Gabrielle Union slammed lesser known actress Stacey Dash for her opposition to the BET Awards and the #OscarsSoWhite controversy while pretending to have never heard of her.

Congratulations to Craig Pittman of the Tampa Bay Times for being the very first to get that right! Honorable mentions go out to ShaleilaKen WalkerDavid DanielCindi LashEd JoyceHeard MuseumDawn BurkesMark Gibbs (who adds "Wonder if she's voting for Trump?"), Judyth MermelsteinRon CasalottiElsa Remak (who dubs Union "the new queen of shade") and Margo Howard for all answering correctly, as well.

As for today's question, here it is: The Atlantic just pointed out that we're the only animals with ... what?
